Leo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt go full ’60s in first ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ photo

QUENTIN Tarantino has made many a star-studded film, but perhaps none of his projects has featured a lineup as luminous as “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” his in-production drama set in the show-business capital of the world during the 1960s.

Headlined by Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Al Pacino, Timothy Olyphant, Damian Lewis, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Scoot McNairy, Clifton Collins, Luke Perry, and the one-and-only Burt Reynolds, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” appears destined to be an A-list epic when it arrives in theaters next summer. And to tide fans over, DiCaprio himself has delivered the first photograph from the closely guarded set.

Via the Instagram post below, DiCaprio presented an initial glimpse of him and Pitt in swanky late-’60s garb, with the former sporting a sweet leather jacket-and-turtleneck combo and the latter giving off a distinct Robert Redford-ish vibe in a denim outfit and aviator sunglasses.

While only scant details are currently known about the plot, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” will be set in L.A. circa 1969 and will focus on Rick Dalton (DiCaprio), a former star of TV Westerns, and his longtime stunt double, Cliff Booth (Pitt), both of whom find themselves somewhat out of place in a rapidly changing Hollywood landscape. We also know that Rick will be the next-door neighbor of Sharon Tate, whose murder at the hands of Charles Manson’s minions – as well as her relationship with her boyfriend at the time, Roman Polanski – will also factor into the sprawling saga, which early reports suggest may be something of a return to Pulp Fiction-ish fractured-storytelling terrain for Tarantino.

To be sure, it’s a far better look for DiCaprio than his recent on-the-town disguises. We’ll have to wait a while to find out if the film lives up to his style, as “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” debuts in theaters on Aug. 9, 2019. (ET)
