IT HAS BEEN six months since the tragic murder of the Absalons, otherwise known as the Masbate incident on June 6, 2021 through an improvised explosive device of the New People’s Army (NPA) – the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).
Without remorse, they proudly claimed responsibility of the incident and said that they would investigate. But what happened to the investigation? Have they imposed disciplinary measures in place for their members involved?
Also, on Dec. 15, the NPA ambushed a convoy of Philippine Army soldiers and civilians engaged in preemptive evacuation operations in Barangay Cancavan, Carmen, Surigao Del Sur for Typhoon “Odette”.
Other than these, the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Center for the Law on Armed Conflict recorded 1,506 atrocities and International Humanitarian Law violations committed by the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army – National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) from 2010 to 2020 that is being investigated by the Commission on Human Rights. We hope the investigation will make progress to hold them accountable for their injustices, because if nothing will be done, they will continue to commit horrific crimes without fear of prosecution.
Nevertheless, the damage has been done. These show just how atrocious the organization our gullible and few countrymen joined for 53 years.
On Dec. 26, CPP turned 53, but no justice for their atrocities was truly served.
For our few remaining countrymen who are still in the CPP-NPA-NDF, is this the type of organization you are committed to serving? Do you still want to renew your oath to the party’s red flag when it only means that to advance this revolution for another year is to advance the atrocities as well?
As Ruben Guevarra, one of the CPP founding fathers said, “In 50 years na hindi ito nagtagumpay, ibig sabihin ayaw ito ng mamamayan. Itigil na natin at ang kawawa ay ang susunod na lahing Pilipino.” – GAB DAGUIO <gabdagz21@gmail.com>
