BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL G. BAÑAGA

BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said Tuesday, Oct. 4, that the League of Governors of the Philippines (LGP) is pushing an idea to allow the governors to identify priority projects to be funded by the national executive budget.

Lacson, who attended the 2nd General Assembly of the LGP in Koronadal City, South Cotabato on Sept. 30, said LGP president, Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. of South Cotabato, disclosed that 20 governors “agreed with the idea.”

The proposed projects are different from the projects facilitated by congressmen, Lacson said.

“The congressmen also bring projects through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH),” he pointed out.

The Negros Occidental governor also revealed that Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III, who was a guest at the assembly, told the governors that DPWH has a lump sum of P530 billion./PN
