The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of the municipality of Pavia conducted an awarding of accreditation certificates to civil society organizations on Aug. 30, at the Municipal Session Hall in Pavia, Iloilo.
SB member Daisy Hubero led the program’s invocation, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the Municipal Hymn.
SB member Daniel “Dan” Fajardo II delivered his welcome message to everyone present at the awarding. Afterwards, SB secretary Gynnyn Gumban duly mentioned each organization to be awarded with a certificate on that day.
The recognition of civil society organizations is mandated by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) through its Memo Circular 2019-72 which aims to “promote the establishment and the operation of people’s organizations, non-governmental organizations and the public sector, to make them active partners in the pursuit of local autonomy.”
Representatives Dolyn Jane Palcia and Jomar Fred Lingaya from the DILG were also present.
The awarding of the certificates was spearheaded by Mayor Laurence Anthony G. Gorriceta and Vice Mayor Edsel Gerochi with the assistance of the SB committee on Non-Government Organizations: Daniel Fajardo II, Maria Jaspe-Francisco, Gyzzyn Gumban, and Rolando de la Rosa. To conclude the program, Mayor Laurence Anthony Gorriceta and Vice Mayor Edsel Gerochi of Pavia gave their messages for the individuals who compose the accredited organizations and whose lives are committed to each of their organizations’ cause./PN
