ANTIQUE – It took 72 years before the town of Libertad, Antique acquired its first polyclinic.

Last Thursday, March 10, the turnover ceremony of the first-ever Libertad Polyclinic was held funded by Cong. Loren Legarda.

According to Mayor Mary Jean “Bebot” Nicopior-Te that since Libertad was declared a municipality or town last August 5, 1949, only now has the dream of the residents to have their hospital-like facility such as the Libertad Polyclinic come true.

“Since the declaration of the town of Libertad as a municipality on August 5, 1949, it has remained our dream to have this facility. After a few attempts, thank God, rugya run is what we want, ”said Te.

For Te, the polyclinic is a big help to its residents after no longer having to travel 30 minutes just to get to the town of Pandan, where the nearest health facility can be found.

Te believes that the polyclinic will be of great advantage to the residents, especially those who are disabled after they have access to health services.

“We are just running to end the day where we still have to travel about 30 kilometers to Pandan, 80 kilometers to Kalibo, or 150 kilometers to San Jose, just to get medical services,” she added./PN
