ANTIQUE – The 23rd Banigan Festival in the municipality of Libertad will be celebrated from March 1 to 16 with the theme, “Turismo, Kultura kag Digitalisasyon Pasanyugon, Tayuyon nga Kauswagan atun Dihonon.”
The local government, 19 barangays and concerned committees are pumping up preparations for the two-week festival.
“Sige man ang aton pagtutuk para sa kada detalye kang aton selebrasyon, halin sa mga preparasyon, mga imbitasyon, mga pa-premyo, partisipayon kang tanan nga sektor, seguridad, kag kaayusan,” said Mayor Mary Jean Te.
Banigan, derived from the word banig or mat, is the main product of the municipality. The festival highlights the importance of banig weaving and a variety of products made from banig such as hats, bags, slippers and gowns, as major livelihoods for the townspeople.

* March 1 – Kick-off of Fire Prevention Month, Banigan eSports League, Squad Parade, and Opening Salvo (Color Fun Run)
* March 8 – Women’s Day and Talent Showcase
* March 8-16 – Food Fest
* March 10 – Roman Catholic Night
* March 11 – CSO Day, Mat Weaving Riras-Rara, and LCS Alumni Night
* March 12 – MAC PTD/LFRAT Day, Coastal Clean-Up, Tree Planting, Friendly Game, and Educator’s Night
* March 13 – Search for Miss Libertad Banigan Tourism 2023
* March 14 – Pabida Parada (Street dancing), Opening of Market Day (Pasundayag), Opening Program, Launching of the New Libertad Hymn, Inauguration and Turnover of New Libertad Public Market and Libertad Seaport, and Vesper Mass
* March 15 – Holy Procession, Solemn Pontifical Mass, Awarding of Yolanda Permanent Housing Project, Pasundayag (Market Day), Tuklas Tinig, Pagarbo, and Community Night
* March 16 – Thanksgiving Mass, Biray (Palumba Padasigay Pumpboat), E-Sports Championship and Awarding, SADSAD, Closing Program, and Urihing Tubo Night.
