According to City Librarian Marion Aguirre, Mayor Jerry Treñas is supportive and in fact a new library has been opened in Arevalo district.

“We are doing this to reach out sa aton mga kabataan kag ang atong mga gusto magsulod sa library,” said Aguirre.

The city’s main public library is currently house at the Graciano Lopez Jaena Shrine and Learning Center in Jaro district.

The center was built on at the birthplace of Graciano Lopez Jaena, an Ilonggo hero of national significance.

According to Aguirre, the library in Arevalo is temporarily at the second floor of Sta. Filomena Day Care Center. This will be transferred to its permanent location – the old house of Chief Justice Ramon Avanceña.

The house is currently being restored.
