ILOILO City – Modernized jeepneys under the Iloilo City Alliance of Operators and Drivers Transport Cooperative (ICAODTC) received P10 million as partial payment from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for rendering service for the Libre Sakay program of the government.
“Sige na ang payroll. Hopefully matapos namon this week,” said Rizal Alido, board secretary of ICAODTC, in an interview with Panay News.
LTFRB has to pay them some P11 million.
Last week, over 30 drivers of modernized jeepneys gathered in front of ICAODTC in Barangay Sambag, Jaro district to discuss what steps can be taken to get their payment for offering Libre Sakay, a Service Contracting Program implemented by the LTFRB and the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Meanwhile, Alido confirmed that modernized jeepneys are joining the second phase of Libre Sakay.
“Naka-submit na kami sang papers namon. Nagahulat na lang kami sang approval sang LTFRB,” said Alido.
However, according to Alido, LTFRB will pay them on a weekly basis this time.
Only authorized persons outside residence and health care workers can board the Libre Sakay./PN
