Lightning strike kills Antique fisherman

SAN JOSE, Antique – In Barangay Batbatan, Culasi, Antique a father died and his son was injured after being struck by lightning.

The incident took place at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday while the two were at sea.

The deceased was identified as 49-year-old Giovannie Nacasabug, who was declared dead on arrival at the local hospital.

His son, 21-year-old Mark Jason Nacasabug, sustained injuries to his back and right shoulder and is currently receiving medical care at Culasi District Hospital.

Police Lieutenant Rowin Cipriano, the deputy chief of Culasi police station, reported that the father and son, residents of Barangay Lamputong in Culasi, had gone fishing early in the morning. They were attempting to return home in the afternoon but were delayed on the island of Batbatan due to severe weather conditions.
