MANILA – Newly appointed acting secretary John Castriciones of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) wanted to hasten the distribution of certificates of landownership award, or CLOA, to agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs).
The former undersecretary for operations of the Interior department also urged the Agrarian Reform agency to give more attention to farmers, especially the qualified beneficiaries of the government’s agrarian reform program.
Neglecting farming interests has been one of the causes of unrest, Castriciones said.
He cited the farmers who continued to camp outside the DAR office in Quezon City as a form of protest.
DAR officials must look into their demands so they can go home and spend the holidays with their families, said Castriciones.
Castriciones officially assumed as DAR acting secretary last Thursday after his appointment by President Rodrigo Duterte.
He vowed to develop support programs and services beneficial to ARB organizations./PN
