ILOILO City – A government employee and resident of Barangay Bolilao in Mandurriao district was found dead in her room.

The primary person of interest was 53-year-old Norivic Ampon’s 33-year-old live-in partner Jun Al Balo, according to Captain Val Cambel, chief of Mandurriao Municipal Police Station.

Cambel revealed that Balo, based on their record, faced a theft charge sometime in July 2023.

Ampon was found early morning on Dec. 30 with strangulation marks on the neck and bruises on her face.

“We did not observe any visual signs of stab or gunshot wounds, and there was no blood on the bed,” Cambel added.

Police said they were awaiting the results of the postmortem examination to determine the extent of injuries sustained by the victim and her cause of death.

According to Ampon’s son, Christian Bruce, her mother and Balo had an altercation on Dec. 28, which was also the last time he saw his mother alive.

Aside from the victim’s cellphone, he said his mother’s ATM card, laptop, and motorcycle were also missing.

Authorities are currently attempting to establish contact with the live-in partner but have so far been unsuccessful.

“If the victim’s live-in partner can come forward to clarify his side, it would be valuable. It may also shed light on why the victim met such a fate. This will lead us to serve justice for the victim,” the police captain added. (With details from RMN Iloilo 774)/PN
