MANILA – First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos said Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio “crossed the line” by laughing when former President Rodrigo Duterte accused President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. of being “bangag.”
In an interview with “TUNE in kay Tunying” program of broadcaster Anthony Taberna early Friday, Araneta-Marcos said she was hurt because she knew President Marcos would do everything to protect the Vice President.
“Mali ‘yan, eh. You crossed the line,” Araneta-Marcos said. “Nasaktan ako because my husband will do everything to protect you. You ran together ‘di ba, ‘Sama-sama tayo babangon muli,’” she said.
The First Lady added: “Pupunta ka sa rally, tawagin ‘yung Presidente mong bangag, ‘di ba? You’re going to laugh? Tama ba ‘yan? Even [former Vice President] Leni (Robredo) never did that,” she added.
“Mali ata ‘yan, ‘di ba? You’re getting sweldo from the government. You’re supposed to be the alter ego (of the President). We’re there protecting you, tapos gagawin mo ‘yan?” she continued.
In a rally in Davao City earlier this year, the Vice President’s father called President Marcos “bangag” while alleging that the latter is on Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) drug list.
The PDEA denied former President Duterte’s allegations, while the Philippine National Police stated there was no document or list stating that the Chief Executive is involved in illegal drugs.
Araneta-Marcos admitted that she was ignoring Duterte-Carpio in events that they were together and would continue to do so unless the Vice President apologizes.
“I’m many things but I am not a hypocrite,” Araneta-Marcos said. “Bad shot na ‘yan sa akin unless she says sorry or whatever, or maybe she will. She crossed the line.”
Meanwhile, Duterte-Carpio has opted not to comment on the statements made by Araneta-Marcos during her interview with Taberna.
“No comment. Thank you,” Duterte-Carpio said in a short response./PN
