ONE month after its release in local cinemas, “Alone/Together” starring Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil has grossed P370 million worldwide.
Producer Black Sheep announced the film’s earnings during a thanksgiving lunch arranged for the cast and crew on Thursday.
Reacting to its massive success, Soberano said she’s happy that a lot of people liked her fourth big screen outing with Gil.
“I am really glad especially na hindi lang siya movie for the sake of just telling a story. Marami din siyang lessons. That’s what I liked most about doing this movie. We were able to use our platform to share things that should be talked about more especially in mainstream movies,” she said.
Gil, for his part, said it meant a lot to him to be able to do another project with his special someone and to give their supporters “something more than just a love story.”
Since many have already seen the movie, Soberano and Gil were also asked what their favorite scenes are.
For Gil, it was when Christine (Soberano) confessed that she will always love Raf (Gil), only to receive a very meaningful yet simple reply from him.
“Yung ‘Ingat ka’ scene. I wasn’t really expecting the reaction of the people. That’s a very simple scene. It meant a thousand words. Puwedeng ‘Ingat ka, I love you but not now,’ or ‘Ingat ka pero I’m sorry.’ Yung ingat ka na scene na ‘yun,” he said.
On the other hand, Soberano’s favorite revealed a piece of trivia about Gil.
“I have two favorite scenes. My first favorite scene is the one in Central Park. It’s parang a breakup scene for Raf and Tin. It’s my favorite probably because of everything that we had to endure behind the scenes. It was freezing cold,” she said.
According to the actress, she and Gil had to do the scene not just once because her boyfriend was hesitant to kiss her.
“Ayaw niya akong i-kiss. Palapit ako, umaatras siya ng umaatras. Nag-away pa kami. Sabi ko, ‘Nafi-feel ko na ‘yung eksena, uulit pa tayo!’ Kasi ang totoo, si Quen ‘yung nahihiya mag-kissing scene. Siya talaga. Hindi siya ready,” she teased.
So it was a great relief, Soberano said, when they were able to finish it.
“When I watched it on the screen for the first time, everything was just so beautiful, the scenery, the lighting, his acting,” she said.
Another remarkable scene for Soberano was the one which she had with Sylvia Sanchez, who played her mom in the movie.
“I always like scenes with my parents. It always has a very special place in my heart. I feel like that scene is a very relatable one sa kahit kanino because we always run back to our parents in the end,” she said.
Written and directed by Antoinette Jadaone, the LizQuen comeback film follows the love story of Christine and Raf, ex-college sweethearts who meet again during a turning point in their lives.
“Alone/Together” is still showing in cinemas locally and in select theaters worldwide. (ABS-CBN News)
