lloilo City tops RPT collection efficiency

ILOILO City – In Western Visayas, this southern city ranked first in Real Property Tax (RPT) collection efficiency for the year 2020.

The city government received a Certificate of Commendation from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Region 6.

According to BIR-6 acting regional director Maria Rhodora Gascon, the City Assessor’s and Treasurer’s offices made remarkable accomplishments.

The city got a rating of 181 percent, outranking 15 other cities in Western Visayas.

“This proves that the city continues to be a livable and thriving metropolis for all despite the pandemic,” said Mayor Jerry Treñas.

Gascon hoped the city would further improve its assessment and treasury operations despite the coronavirus pandemic.

He thanked the city government for the timely submission of its 2020 fourth quarter electronic Statement of Receipts and Expenditures (eSRE) Reports and Quality Reports on Real Property Assessment under the Local Government Unit (LGU) Integrated System, leading to the 100 percent submission compliance rate of the region.

The SRE system is an official reporting of the Department of Finance on local government fiscal and financial matters pursuant to the Department Order No. 34-2014.

Gascon said these reports capture data that generate information on the fiscal capacity, level of borrowings and creditworthiness of LGUs.

It also provides financial information to the local chief executive and other officials for the purpose of policy formulation and fiscal management./PN
