‘Log-in log-out’ urged for money lending collectors

ILOILO – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) is urging collectors of lending companies and other microfinance institutions to register with police stations to safeguard themselves against robbery.

“One way of preventing robbery incidents is for all lending collectors to log-in and log-out at any of our police stations for their security. Robbery groups are only around the corner waiting for the opportunity,” IPPO director, Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas said.

Salinas recently met with around 50 lending companies and microfinance institutions to discuss preventive measures against robbery groups.

Tips were given to them through a video presentation on how to avoid robbers.

Salinas said policemen could also provide security to lending collectors while roaming in some barangays.

“Dapat ang mga collectors may strategy para indi mabiktima. Dapat  lain-lainon nila ang ila oras sa pagpanukot para insi sila masundan. That is another way of avoiding lawless elements,” Salinas said.

The IPPO director surmised that drug dealers might orchestrate the robbery to divert the attention and focus of the police, who would then stop conducting drug operations./PN
