Looking at the presidential aspirants (1)

FOUR coffee addicts, as they call themselves, gathered in a new coffee bar enthusiastic to chit-chat on the “qualities” of ambitious would-be national leaders of this country.

First is the lady candidate Leni who is now the second highest official of the land.

“Leni is a kind lady and very soft-spoken and seems close to the heart of Filipinos. She could be a good La Presidente,” said a teacher.

“She is all smiles all the time and speaks well,” he added.

“What can a smile and timid lady do if she becomes the national leader? There are very tough situations to resolve. It is not enough to be soft and kind,” the golfer butted in.

“There are so many corrupt agencies in government and we do not think she will be brave enough to hustle with those old faggots in government,” he added then sipped his cappuccino.

“But Leni can always talk it over with those alleged corrupt people in government and maybe make warnings that they will be dismissed,” the teacher said.

“I do not thing that would happen. You see, even Duterte in his six years that is about to end admitted that it is difficult to catch them in the act. So how will Leni do that?” said the lawyer.

“Well, she has to select her circle of men and women well to ensure they can help her. Surely there are still sincere and honest people to work well,” the teacher argued.

“This is reality I want to show you – the President of the land could be the most honest creature on earth. If that leader could not control the corrupt acts of the President’s men and women, the President becomes inutile in her directions. This is what many believed of the past leaders like Cory, Erap and PNoy. PNoy is not conscious of what his guys are doing,” the golfer said. “Even in the present administration, the leader could even be tempted to join the bandwagon,” the golfer quipped.

“Leni a good leader to unite the opposition? She failed to convince so many opposition figures to unite,” the lawyer opines.

“Well, let us see the fate of Leni. She has not proven herself strongly. She seems so meek, so kind-hearted and motherly. Is she ready to face international and domestic intrigues? Or will she simply entrust these tasks to her anointed circle of good ones and some nincompoops? Let’s see,” the lawyer stressed.

***

“Give me five reasons why Leni should be the next national leader. Actually she won because of sympathy when her husband died, just like PNoy on the death of Cory. That is how Filipino character is, sympathy votes they call them,” the golfer said.

“It is good that two are in favor and two are opposing . Next time let us talk about the other candidates,” said the teacher.
