
ILOILO – A tragic shooting incident believed to have stemmed from a love triangle claimed the life of a 43-year-old man in Barangay Lanag, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo yesterday afternoon, February 4.
The victim identified as Rodito Celiz, a resident of the town’s Barangay Omambog, was pronounced dead on arrival at Western Visayas Sanitarium and General Hospital after he was shot by the suspect, Ronald Susvilla, 46, from Barangay Dalid of the same town.
According to the Sta. Barbara Municipal Police Station (MPS), Susvilla reportedly chased Celiz while brandishing a firearm. The pursuit extended approximately 300 meters before Celiz was fatally shot.
Witnesses from nearby residences stated they heard four gunshots coming from the house of Celiz’s current live-in partner, known by the alias “Maymay.” It was later discovered that Maymay was also the former live-in partner of the suspect.
Residents in the area reported no prior altercation between the suspect and the victim before the gunshots were heard, which left them in shock upon realizing what had transpired.
As of this writing, the suspect remained at large. Authorities were conducting follow-up operations to locate and apprehend Susvilla.
Sta. Barbara police urge anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward to aid in the resolution of the case./PN
