LYCEUM of the Philippines University-Davao (LPU-Davao), an affiliate of internationally accredited university dedicated to innovation and excellence, Lyceum of the Philippines University, will soon be powered by Cleanergy, AboitizPower’s brand for clean and renewable energy.
LPU-Davao signed a memorandum of agreement with APX to explore a 300-kilowatt-peak rooftop solar project.
“Going renewable is a landmark in the rich history of LPU. This highlights our commitment not only to achieving academic excellence but also to ensuring that LPU, as among the leading educational institutions in the Philippines, remains sustainable so it can serve the next generation of learners,” Dr. Peter Laurel, president of LPU Davao, Batangas, and Laguna campuses, said.
The power supply will be sourced from rooftop solar panels to be installed, operated, and maintained by AboitizPower Distributed Renewables, Inc. (APX).
“We are very excited about this opportunity to work with LPU and to be part of its journey towards becoming a more sustainable institution. This marks our first foray into the education space for APX and we hope that it is just the beginning. We see great potential for distributed renewable energy in the Philippines. We look forward to helping more businesses reduce their energy cost and carbon footprint,” Carlos Aboitiz, director of APX, said.
APX is AboitizPower’s business unit focusing on rooftop solar projects. It is part of AboitizPower’s Cleanergy portfolio, which also includes hydro, geothermal, and solar power plants that are strategically located all over the country./PN
