MANILA – Provincial buses ferrying passengers from Western Visayas to Metro Manila and vice versa are resuming their operation.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) opened seven routes for 221 provincial buses headed for Western Visayas. These were the following:
* Kalibo, Aklan – Sta. Rosa Integrated Terminal, Laguna
* Malay, Aklan – Sta. Rosa Integrated Terminal, Laguna
* San Jose, Antique – Sta. Rosa Integrated Terminal, Laguna
* Roxas City, Capiz – Sta. Rosa Integrated Terminal, Laguna
* Estancia, Iloilo – Sta. Rosa Integrated Terminal, Laguna
* Iloilo City, Iloilo – Sta. Rosa Integrated Terminal, Laguna
* Miag-ao, Iloilo – Sta. Rosa Integrated Terminal, Laguna
LTFRB announced this move through Memorandum Circular No. 2020-051-C released Tuesday.
There will be no fare increase upon the resumption of trips.
Only roadworthy public utility vehicles (PUVs) with valid Certificates of Public Convenience (CPC) or Application for Extension of Validity are permitted to operate. All approved PUV units must have a registered Personal Passenger Insurance Policy.
LTFRB also stressed that each PUV must have a printed QR code on a short bond paper plastered inside the vehicle. Requests for QR codes can be coursed through LTFRB’s Facebook page and must contain the following details: Name, mode, case (ex. PUJ, UVE, etc.), and plate or chassis number.
Commuters are urged to follow the “seven commandments” to avoid the coronavirus. These include the mandatory wearing of facemasks plus shields, frequent hand disinfection, and observance of proper social distance at all times.
Operators must ensure that PUV units have proper ventilation.
“Violation of the provisions will result in fines and revocation of CPC,” the LTFRB warned the drivers of PUV./PN
