ILOILO City – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 6 in Barangay Quintin Salas, Jaro district was ransacked.
The office break-in was discovered by their security guard at around 7 a.m. yesterday, said Atty. Salvadot Altura, legal counsel and spokesperson for LTFRB-6.
The guard found drawers and tables in two second-floor offices had been rummaged through.
Further inspection revealed the loss of over P1,000 in petty cash.
No other items, such as laptops, desktops, or any office equipment or documents, were reported missing.
The initial investigation by LTFRB-6 indicated that the burglars entered through a hole where an air-conditioner had been installed on the second floor.
It is believed the burglary occurred on the night of Sunday, Dec. 17.
Altura noted that even though a security guard was on duty at night, the robbers likely remained undetected by entering from the back of the office, climbing onto the roof, and entering through the air-conditioner hole.
“Our security is stationed at the main entrance,” Altura explained.
The robbers also covered the security cameras, effectively concealing their identities.
In response to the incident, LTFRB-6 plans to implement stricter security measures.
The burglary was reported to the Jaro police station./PN
