BACOLOD City – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will not leave this capital city, clarified regional director Richard Osmeña.
Osmeña said the closure of their satellite office along San Juan Street across the public plaza is not total.
They will still accommodate clients there but only on Thursdays and Fridays in a one-month period, he added.
The LTFRB will transfer to a bigger office in Barangay Mansilingan where it can accommodate a larger number of clients.
Osmeña said Councilor Ricardo Tan helped them find a new place in the city.
It was Tan who introduced him to the owner of the building that will house the new LTFRB-Bacolod office, Osmeña told the media yesterday.
Osmeña also denied the rumors that the city government ordered LTFRB’s eviction in Bacolod.
Local transport groups have opposed the supposed eviction late last month, saying that this would mean more expenses as they have to travel to Iloilo City for their LTFRB transactions.
Councilor Dindo Ramos, Mayor Evelio Leonardia and City Administrator John Orola have earlier clarified the issue.
The city government did not release an “official communication” that orders the eviction of the LTFRB in Bacolod, Ramos stressed.
According to Leonardia, the “hearsay” was only a “black propaganda to destroy” his administration./PN
