AKLAN – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in this province has started the distribution of plastic driver’s license cards on Monday, April 15.

Engr. Marlon Velez, chief of LTO-Aklan, assured that individuals renewing their licenses and new applicants this month would be provided with plastic license cards.

LTO-Aklan currently has 5,000 plastic license cards. Additional supply of plastic cards will soon arrive.

Velez said they have a backlog of 13,000 driver’s license cards in the province due to the halt in distribution for almost a year.

Meanwhile, to ensure smooth operations and prevent overcrowding at LTO offices, the national office has implemented scheduling measures.

According to the LTO, driver’s licenses that expired from April 1 to August 31, 2023 and expiring from April 1 to 30, 2024 should be renewed from April 15 to 30, 2024 to avoid fines.

Motorists with expiring licenses from September 1 to December 31, 2023 and from May 1 to 31, 2024 are scheduled for renewal in May. And those expiring between January 1 and March 31, 2024 will be scheduled for renewal from June 1 to 30, 2024./PN
