TRANSPORT Secretary Jaime Bautista said that the 1 million plastic cards delivered to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) would be delivered to regional offices by Monday, April 1, after undergoing inspection.
This was after the Court of Appeals lifted the injunction issued by a Quezon City Regional Trial Court that temporarily halted the delivery of plastic cards to the LTO.
“Itong 1 million na ito ay idi-distribute natin sa different regional offices by Monday. Idi-distribute na natin ‘yan by Monday all over the Philippines. Inaayos na ng LTO ang distribution sa regional office, depende sa requirements ng region,” he said.
Bautista added that 2 million more plastic cards would be delivered to the LTO within the next 45 days, which would cover the backlog in license cards.
He said the cards are being inspected to check the thickness and security features.
The next step for the LTO is to begin the procurement of more or less 6.5 million more ID cards, Bautista said. (ABS-CBN News)
