THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) yesterday warned the public against scammers that pretend to be personnel from its office.
The LTO said there is a scam where some users receive text messages saying they have a traffic violation, with a link to what is supposedly the LTO website.
But the LTO said it does not notify motorists of traffic violations via text, and the link leads to a fake Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) Portal.
The LTO said the public should not click on the link, because it will always tell the user that they have traffic violations, regardless of whether or not the plate number they entered is real or fake.
Furthermore, typing in any personal or banking information will give the scammers these crucial data.
The agency also encouraged the public to report scam text messages to them at 0929 292 0865. (ABS-CBN News)
