A POPULAR collegiate basketball player became boastful when he was hailed as the main guy in the university he is playing for before – drawing the ire of his teammates and friends.

But the source said it was not because of the collegiate player’s changed attitude that he was removed from the university’s basketball team.

E iyong iba nilang players before and now ang dami-dami ring endorsements pero hindi nagagalaw.

TAY TUNG TO PULL OUT IF…

Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts considers pulling out of the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet from Feb. 17 to 23 in Iloilo City.

Vice President for Sports Jose Montalbo told Buzzer Beater they will reconsider their participation if the organizers push through with holding volleyball games outdoors.

Ang isinasaalang-alang lang naman namin ay ang safety ng mga players,” he said.

“Imagine if a championship game lasts for three hours and it is played outdoors, what will happen to our players? Kung hindi man sila masaktan sa rough surface baka naman ma-heatstroke sila,” he added.

According to Montalbo, Tay Tung is not the only school complaining about it – other coaches in the qualifier are, too. He has written Iloilo governor Arthur Defensor Sr. with regard his concern.

“If you let them play outdoors, the chances of them being wounded or injured are high. Volleyball courts now use Taraflex flooring for safety reasons because the game is becoming fast and furious,” Montalbo said.

“Who will be held accountable if something happens to our players? These students still have a bright future ahead of them,” he added./PN
