ILOILO City – Iloilo United Royals will have its first home game in the 2019-2020 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup against Pasay Voyagers on Sept. 19 at the University of San Agustin Gym here.
Royals team owner Julio Jalandoni Javelosa told Panay News team members were very much looking forward to its first home game, particularly those who traced their roots in Iloilo. “The players were very excited especially ‘yungmga Iloilo-based players because it is rare for them to be given opportunity to play in front of their fellow Ilonggos,” Javelosa said.
The Royals have nine Iloilo-based players on their roster in Aaron Jeruta, Jay Javelosa, Paul Reguera, Rhagnee Sinco, Gerry Antonio Abadiano, Andre Pantin, Jessiery Pedrosa, Jason Li, and John Mahari. The Voyagers also have one Ilonggo in their roster in Jaypee Belencion.
Expected to grace the Royals’ first home game is MPBL founder Sen. Manny Pacquiao as well as Iloilo City’s Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Ticket details for the double-header MPBL game (the first game will be between Valenzuela Classic and Mindoro Tamaraws) are still being finalized, according to Javelosa./PN
