ILOILO City – After her boss confronted her, a house help admitted to stealing several jewelry pieces from the former and pawning them, a police report showed.

The house help – 40-year-old Edna Gabiana of Barangay Janipaan Este, Cabatuan, Ilolo – was facing a qualified theft charge. She was arrested and detained at the police station in Jaro district.

Gabiana worked for Marietta Leones, 40, of No. 8 Mirasol Subdivision, Barangay Sambag, Jaro.

Leones confronted Gabiana after discovering at around 9 a.m. on April 9 that her gold necklace with a cross pendant and a gold earring with a diamond stud were missing, police said.

The necklace with pendant was worth P50,000 and the earring, P20,000. Leones said they were placed in her bedroom.

Gabiana admitted to taking the jewelry pieces, stated the police report.

Her employer said the maid pawned the necklace with pendant for P16,000 at Global Pawnshop in Barangay Arguelles, Jaro, and the earring for P4,700 at RD Pawnshop in Barangay Luna, Jaro.
