ACTRESS Maine Mendoza wants to help eradicate the stigma about the deaf community with her new movie “Isa Pa With Feelings”.
During her interview, Maine shared her realizations after making the movie with actual deaf people on set.
“Ang pinaka na-realize ko, na kahit deaf sila, it doesn’t make them less of a person, na nakakaramdam din sila. Capable din sila of loving, and they deserve to be loved as well. They deserve to be understood and to be appreciated sa lahat ng ginagawa nila,” she said.
“Ang nakakatuwa since we’ve worked with deaf people doon sa film na makikita rin nila na hearing and deaf people can get along naman, they can get along well. Depende na rin sa ating mga hearing kung mag-e-effort ba tayo to talk to them,” Maine added.
The 24-year-old actress and comedienne portrays the role of Mara, an aspiring architect who falls in love with a deaf sign language teacher Gali, played by Carlo Aquino.
According to Maine, one of the scenes she wants fans to take note of is the scene where she attends a party full of deaf people played by actual deaf talents.
“Mayroong eksena dito sa pelikula na lahat ng talent doon deaf. May mga 30 people sila, kasi party ito ni Gali, so kinuha namin as in deaf talaga lahat,” she said.
Maine said she is honest enough to say that she, together with her co-actors and production team, worked hard for this movie.
Meanwhile, after being in the showbiz for quite a while, Maine also shared what she has learned in the industry.
“Hindi lahat ng kaharap mong tao ay totoo sa iyo…Pero hindi lang naman ‘yan applicable sa mundo ng showbiz. Kahit sa ibang mundo, kahit ibang career naman,” she explained.
“Isa Pa With Feelings” will hit the cinemas starting Oct. 16. (Push)
