BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL G. BAÑAGA

BACOLOD City – Major drug groups in Negros Occidental have been dismantled, according to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO).

One of these was the Bugalon Drug Group. Its suspected leader, 49-year-old Jonaly Bugalon, was arrested in Kabankalan City in August last year, said Police Captain Judesses Catalogo, NOCPPO spokesperson.

But there is no letup in monitoring because there are other groups still out there, stressed Catalogo.

He mentioned the Vertucio Drug Group and Divinagracia Drug Group whose members have laid low after their leader, Michael Divinagracia, was found dead in Baras, Rizal on May 19, 2021.

Aside from heading a drug group, Divinagracia was also believed to have led a criminal group in Negros Occidental and was linked to several high-level robbery incidents both in the province and in Bacolod City.

The NOCPPO spokesperson said they will not stop conducting operations against drug groups./PN
