MANILA – A monorail would soon link central business districts in Makati and Taguig cities, Malacañang announced Tuesday.
The Department of Transportation approved the proposal for the project to be submitted to the Investment Coordination Committee, a body under the National Economic and Development Authority, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said.
Once built, the Makati-Bonifacio Global City Skytrain – a 2-kilometer monorail –will connect the Metro Rail Transit Guadalupe Station and Fort Bonifacio, the Palace official said.
“Construction is expected to start later this year,” said Roque.
The project is expected to be completed in 2021.
“Around 60,000 to 100,000 passengers daily” are seen to benefit from the project, the spokesman said./PN
