MALAY, Aklan – The construction of Malay Sports Oval is ongoing.

The 400-lineal meter rubberized six-lane track and field within Malay Elementary School in Barangay Balusbos costs P48.200 million. The School Board is funding it.

Mayor Frolibar Bautista said the track and field with imported sports rubber flooring is starting to take shape, so far, about 50 percent completed.

Bautista said it took two years for the local government and the Department of Education to bankroll the track oval project.

Once operational, the facility will host annual sports division and provincial events.

It will also serve as training ground of Malay athletes.

Bautista is also pushing for the multi-event facilities for the betterment of health conditions of his constituents.

Firmbuilders, Inc. is the contractor of the Malay sports facility, which also built a track and oval field in Capiz province in 2017.

Ongoing also is the construction of 700-seater Boracay Stadium in Barangay Balabag in Boracay Island.

To date, Aklan has an existing track and oval field at Aklan Calangcang Sports Complex in Makato, Aklan./PN
