ILOILO City – Celebrities and social media influencers yesterday started their familiarization tour in Western Visayas.
The tour is part of the partnership between the Department of Tourism Region 6 and the Department of Tourism-Malaysia.
It will be until Oct. 30 in time for Bacolod’s MassKara Festival whose highlights will be on Oct. 26, 27 and 28.
The Tourism Promotions Board and DOT Region 6 said the tour is part of their “continuing effort” to promote festivals in the Philippines, especially targeting influencers who have thousands of followers.
“More than 10 participants composed of celebrities, Malaysian Key Opinion Leaders, media and social media influencers will arrive here in Western Visayas for the familiarization tour in Iloilo and Negros Occidental,” said DOT Region 6 director Helen Catalbas.
Catalbas added that they are “confident these visitors will enjoy the grandeur and beauty of Western Visayas.”
The Iloilo tour includes visits to the Molo Mansion, Molo Church, Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art, Millionaires Lane, Garin Farm, and Miag-ao Church.
In Negros Occidental, they will visit the San Diego Pro-Cathedral, The Ruins and some ancestral houses.
The highlight of the familiarization tour is the MassKara Festival.
“DOT Region 6 believes that tourist destinations and festivals in Western Visayas should be exposed to the wider audiences through the tour participants’ experience that they will share with their followers,” said Catalbas. (With DOT Region 6/PN)
