MALINAO, Aklan – A man stabbed his older brother to death in Sitio Banlok, Barangay Manhanip, police said.
The 33-year-old Christopher Yabut attacked the 46-year-old Rolando Yabut using a bladed weapon around 9:40 p.m. on Aug. 10, a police report showed.
Rolando sustained stab wounds on the stomach and was rushed to the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital in Kalibo, Aklan where he expired at around 11:15 p.m. on the same day.
Christopher, on the other hand, fled. But he surrendered around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday to Inspector Jose Iturralde, the chief of police in Lezo, Aklan and a resident of Barangay Manhanip.
Iturralde then brought Christopher to the Malinao municipal police station where the latter was detained.
“Nagkainuman itong magkapatid at nagkainitan sa usapan sa partehan sa lupa,” said Police Officer 1 Eriberto Icayan of the Malinao municipal police station. “Sinaway sila ng kanilang pinsan at sinabihang umuwi na.”
But on their way home, Christopher confronted Rolando and stabbed him.
The police were not able to recover the weapon that Christopher used to kill his brother.
A homicide charge will be filed against Christopher, police said./PN
