BACOLOD City – SM City Bacolod has rejected circulating online messages claiming that some of its employees and tenants were infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“This information circulating online is false. Same man ini nga news nga nagalibot last week sa Baguio, Iloilo,” SM City-Bacolod media and public relations manager May Castro said.
Castro said they have not received any reports from the Department of Health (DOH) nor the local government unit (LGU) on any positive cases for COVID-19 related to mall employees or its tenants.
The management of the mall issued an official statement on Sunday, June 14, to debunk the online rumor.
“As part of SM Supermalls’ commitment to create a safe and healthy environment for everyone, we have conducted a voluntary COVID-19 antibody rapid testing for all employees and agency frontliners in a venue outside our mall premises,” it said.
“We would like to remind the public that only DOH or LGU can release any official reports on positive or negative Covid-19 cases,” the statement added.
The management also encouraged the public to refrain from spreading fake and unverified information related to the coronavirus crisis./PN
