BACOLOD City – The provincial government-operated Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental is ready for the expected increase in tourist arrivals for the Holy Week and summer breaks.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said tourist arrivals in the province have yet to reach pre-pandemic levels, although he noted it is steadily increasing.
Since the resort is also classified as a wildlife sanctuary, Diaz pointed out the number of visitors are being regulated and they have to follow several rules and regulations in the premises.
Only 500 visitors are allowed per day and cooking as well as karaoke singing are not allowed.
These new rules were imposed to prevent disturbing the hundreds of wild bats residing in the resort and wildlife sanctuary.
Diaz said food is served at the food court located at the new building which was funded under the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority.
He further said based on the latest report of the province’s Economic Enterprise Development Department, Mambukal is already showing a “good performance.”/PN
