BACOLOD City – The number of visitors at the provincial capitol-run Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental has been increasing since reopening to the public a week ago.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said they recorded not less than 100 visitors from April 20 onwards, but it nearly reached 300 last Sunday, April 24.
Diaz said they are still adopting the old rates at both the entrance and facilities.
He said visitors can enjoy the fresh air and the sounds of the birds chirping and the other wildlife that can be spotted in the resort.
Diaz also affirmed that starting May 1, they will begin allowing overnight stays, but for now all visits to the resort are limited only to day tours.
Advanced reservations or bookings are also being observed, and those who want to enter the Mambukal Resort must first secure their bookings at the resort’s administrative office located at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon in Bacolod City.
The Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary reopened to the public on April 20 after more than two years of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The resort also previously reopened in December of 2021, however, it closed again two weeks into its operation during the onslaught of super typhoon “Odette” in Negros island./PN
