BACOLOD City — A Japanese investor plans to put up a retirement hotel at the provincial government-run Mambukal Resort in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia town.

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. will seek authority from the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) to enter into a contract with the investor, SP member Salvador Escalante said.

Escalante said the governor will soon submit to the SP a draft of the contract.

Marañon and other Capitol officials have met with the Japanese investor, whom Escalante did not identify, recently.

He said one of the investor’s options is to rent the entire area where the Tourist Lodge is at P1.8 million a year.

The Tourist Lodge will be demolished because it is already dilapidated, said Escalante.

What will be established to replace it is a retirement hotel and a training center for caregivers who would be deployed to Japan, according to Marañon./PN
