ROXAS City – An Iloilo City resident was arrested in Poblacion Norte, Ivisan, Capiz, a police report showed.
The 23-year-old Joselito Artus faces a charge for violation of Section 155 of Republic Act 8293, or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
Officers from the Ivisan municipal police station caught Artus around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday after selling fake cigarettes to the 39-year-old Judily Isiderio, who owns a store in Barangay Poblacion Norte.
Artus and Isiderio had an altercation after the former found that the cigarettes the latter delivered to her were not complete as ordered.
Isiderio told Artus that she will only pay for the cigarettes if they were delivered complete.
Artus got mad and pushed Isiderio. He then ran but was caught by barangay tanod Noli Crispo and some residents.
Police responded to the area after receiving a report.
The 29-year-old Jonel Alparaque, a salesman of Visayan Kharis Distribution, Inc. then confirmed to the authorities that the cigarettes delivered by Artus were fake.
Artus was detained at the Ivisan police station lockup facility./PN
