ILOILO City – For smoking inside a public utility jeepney, a man was apprehended.
Eleazar Abenes, 37, of Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao district was caught at the checkpoint of the Molo police station in Barangay East Baluarte, Molo district.
The apprehension was made around 9 p.m. on Aug. 15.
The city prohibits smoking in public places and conveyances.
Abenes was issued with a citation ticket and had to pay a corresponding fine.
Aside from prohibiting smoking in public, the city also requires anyone wanting to sell or dispense cigarette or tobacco products to secure a license from it.
The licensing fee would depend on the vendor’s capitalization.
The city government also bans the sale and distribution of cigarettes and other tobacco products to and/or from minors./PN
