ILOILO City – A man visiting an inmate at the Iloilo District Jail (IDJ) in Barangay Nanga, Pototan, Iloilo was caught sneaking suspected shabu and cellular phones on Saturday, April 1.
The suspect, 56-year-old Richard Rojo of Barangay Talusan, Dumangas town, yielded four sachets of suspected shabu valued at around P54,000, said IDJ warden Chief Inspector Denver Beltran.
“When we checked nakuha sang tao ko four sachets of shabu na nakatago sa uling. Tapos nakuha man naton two units of cellular phones. We are strict in checking sa mga food kag ibang bagay nga ginapasulod sa jail,” Beltran told Panay News.
The jail warden said the suspect reportedly told the jail officer that he was looking for an inmate who was accused of rape and a resident of Tigbauan town.
“We are not sure if that inmate was really his relative kay sang ginpamangakot naton, indi niya kilala. Madugay na nga wala may nagabisita sa iya (inmate) kay ang nag-akusar sa iya himata niya. Basi gin-name drop niya (suspect) lang,” Beltran said.
Rojo was detained at the Pototan Municipal Police Station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
