BACOLOD City – Days after hacking his friend to death, a resident of Barangay Damutan, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental surrendered to the police.
The 21-year-old Virgilio Toreno told the Hinoba-an police he hacked Rogelio Rebles at around 3 p.m. on Jan. 8 while they were on their way home after a drinking binge.
They had a heated argument, according to Toreno.
After stabbing Rebles with a bolo, he took the victim’s body to a forested area then went home as of nothing happened, said Toreno.
The family of Rebles, worried that Rogelio had not returned home since Jan. 8, kept badgering Toreno about the former’s whereabouts because he was the last person seen with Rebles before the victim disappeared.
His conscience bugged Toreno so he decided to surrender to the police./PN
