ILOILO City – The boyfriend of a 20-year-old woman whose body was found in a rice field on Sept. 6 in Barangay Devera, Sara, Iloilo denied having a falling-out with her.

The 19-year-old Jade Dasas of Sara told the police he had not met nor talked to his girlfriend, Rema Are of Barangay Tubugan, Ajuy a day before her cadaver was found.

However, in a radio interview, Dasas admitted that the victim texted him on the night of Sept. 5 and asked him to meet her at the Sara District Hospital.

“She texted me around 8 p.m. that she would be going to Sara District Hospital and she wanted to meet me but I did not go there because my parents would not permit me,” Dasas said.

Dasas claimed the last time they had sex was in July and since then, they had not met. But they were communicating through text messaging, he claimed.

Board mates of the victim, on the other hand, reported that she had told them about her two-month delayed menstruation.

Despite Dasas’ denial, Senior Inspector Gilbert Archide, Sara chief of police, said they were focusing on an eyewitness account that the suspect and the victim had dinner together in a restaurant in Sara on Sept. 5.

Archide confirmed that the victim was not raped but had a multiple stab wounds, and hematoma on her head. /PN
