ILOILO – A 38-year-old man lost his life after being electrocuted while attempting to move fallen electrical wires in Barangay Talaugis, Zarraga town.

The victim identified as Elmer Atadero was declared dead on arrival at the hospital despite efforts by family members to save him.

Captain Dandy Ilalto, officer-in-charge of the Zarraga Municipal Police Station, said Atadero was trying to help by picking up the wiring that had fallen on the ground after it was hit by an uprooted banana plant during strong winds brought by Tropical Storm Kristine on Friday afternoon, October 25.

Unaware that the wire was live and connected to his cousin’s home, Atadero was electrocuted upon contact, Ilalto added./PN
