Man fatally shot in Bingawan

ILOILO – Bingawan police have yet to identify the gunman responsible in the killing of a 35-year-old man in the town’s Barangay Agbao.

The victim identified as alias “Oming,” a resident of Barangay Simsiman, Lambunao, Iloilo, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the back of his head on Sunday, March 9. The bullet exited through the left side of his face, police said.

According to Police Lieutenant Philip Girao, officer-in-charge of the Bingawan Municipal Police Station (MPS), investigators are facing challenges due to the absence of closed-circuit television camera footage and witnesses.

Girao said Oming had traveled to Bingawan to participate in a mini-sound show competition, and they believe the loud music from the event may have masked the sound of gunfire, allowing the assailant to escape unnoticed.

Bingawan MPS formed a special investigation team to identify and track down the gunman.

Police however ruled out robbery as a motive, as the victim’s belongings remained untouched./PN
