ILOILO – A 38-year-old man was found dead along the dike in Barangay Tranghawan, Lambunao, Iloilo around 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, December 22.
Major Roy Tayona, chief of the Lambunao Municipal Police Station, confirmed that the victim was identified as Vicente Sumido, a resident of Barangay Cabilauan, New Lucena town.
He was positively identified by his wife who went to the police station.
According to Tayona, the victim’s family was located after authorities disseminated information about the discovery.
Initial police investigations revealed that the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the knee and a stab wound to the chest.
Police also disclosed that Sumido had a record with the barangay involving illegal drugs and faced charges for frustrated homicide.
The body will undergo autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death as the investigation continues, Tayona added./PN
