BACOLOD City – A man was hacked while attending a birthday celebration at around 4:45 p.m. on May 28 in Barangay Malatas, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.
Alpel Lugay, 32, of Barangay Paghumayan, Calatrava was allegedly attacked by Laurencio Bogias, 47.
Police said Bogias was the birthday celebrator’s brother.
Without any apparent reason, the suspect hacked the victim using a cane cutter (espading) on the back of his head and left forearm, the police added.
“Nagbalos man lang ni ang suspek sa biktima kay sang nagligad nasumbagan na siya,” said Police Captain Jesus D. Alba, deputy police chief of Calatrava.
Lugay was taken to the Calatrava Municipal Hospital for treatment and was later referred to the Silay City Provincial Hospital.
