BACOLOD City – A man was badly mauled by an angry mob in Sagay City on Wednesday night. He was caught in the act of attempting to sexually assault a minor.
The Sagay City police have requested not to identify the suspect pending further investigation.
Based on eyewitness accounts given to police, the victim, a seven-year-old girl, was running an errand when they spotted her being approached by the suspect.
Suspicious residents followed the two, and upon reaching a cemetery in the area, they found the suspect naked with the little girl.
Locals took the victim to safety while others beat the suspect.
The mauling stopped after the responding barangay officials and the police arrived.
The suspect is currently detained at the Sagay City Police Station and could face criminal charges. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
