Man nabbed for ‘gun running’ in Leganes

ILOILO – A 39-year-old man was arrested for selling assorted firearms in an entrapment operation around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, in Barangay Calaboa, Leganes town.

Alias “Rogie,” a resident of Barangay Bugasongan, Tigbauan, was detained at the custodial facility of Leganes Municipal Police Station (MPS). He will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

Operatives of the Police Regional Office 6’s Regional Intelligence Division – Regional Special Operations Group, Leganes MPS, Passi City Component Police Station, and Iloilo Provincial Police Office’s Intelligence Unit seized caliber .45 pistol, a magazine for caliber .45, AR-15 caliber .9mm, empty magazine for caliber .9mm, and the buy-bust money.

Western Visayas top cop, Brigadier General Jack Wanky, lauded the operatives for the successful operation.

“This operation was the result of the information coming from the community stating that this suspect was involved in gun running. May this arrest serves as warning to those who still engage in illegal activity or still possessing loose firearms to deposit or surrender your firearms to police units near your location. If you failed and once we obtained evidence, surely, law enforcement operation will be initiated against you,” Wanky added./PN
