BACOLOD City – A resident of Barangay 29 was arrested for alleged illegal dumping.
Solid Waste Action Team (SWAT) enforcers caught Ricky Cornelio in their village on Dec. 19, a Police Station 1 report showed.
The 48-year-old was the first alleged solid waste policy violator the SWAT caught as the team enforces the “no segregation, no collection policy,” said Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, the team’s head.
SWAT’s complaint against Cornelio will be referred to his barangay, which will impose the appropriate fine, Familiaran said.
Violators are fined P300 on first offense, P600 on second offense and P1,000 on third offense.
The vice mayor hoped the arrest will serve as warning to others./PN
