ILOILO City – A 26-year-old man landed in jail after an unlicensed gun was seized from him at a checkpoint in Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao district.
Ronald Deosana of Barangay Man-it, Passi City, Iloilo was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Mandurriao policemen recovered from Deosana a 12-gauge shotgun.
The suspect had no legal papers for the gun, thus he would be charged with violating Republic Act 10591 or for illegal possession of firearm, said Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) spokesperson.
“We are warning those carrying guns without proper documents. Our policemen are roaming around the city and conducting checkpoints 24 hours,” said Gorero.
ICPO director, Senior Superintendent Ruperto Floro directed all his police chiefs to conduct non-stop checkpoints, especially in crime-prone areas./PN
